Yorkville Chapter Leader
In 2016 I attended my first WESOS meeting, back when there were only two chapters. As I left the Honey Jam Café in Bolingbrook after that meeting, two things stood out. The first was that there were women just like me, creating successful businesses in unique niches from their ideas and their talents. The second was that the women who I had just met were authentic in their desire to help other women also be successful.
All these years later, I can say that without a shadow of a doubt I would not be doing what I am doing today without the support of my WESOS sisters. We end each meeting with the phrase, “What would you do if you surrounded yourself with a group of women who would not let you fail.” And I smile a little each time I hear that, because I think, “Oh, I tried so many ways to fail, but nobody would let me!”
Being an entrepreneur is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I never intentionally tried to fail, but I have made mistakes, decisions that did not work out as expected, and experienced setbacks. As a blogger, author, and professional freelance writer, I have pivoted more times than I can recall.
I have had days when I felt like I was on top of the world, and days when I was ready to give up and go back into corporate America. I have had days when I felt those feelings within ten minutes of each other!
Through all of it, my WESOS sisters have had my back. We have cried, laughed, brainstormed, celebrated, and networked together. We have taught each other. We have sent leads to each other. We have recommended each other on social media. We have done everything to ensure that nobody fails.
I became a WESOS Chapter Leader because I want to help other female entrepreneurs succeed, whether they are just starting out or are seasoned professionals simply looking for new connections. I love introducing members who I think will do great things together or have a strong personal connection. But most importantly, I want to help women know that they have what it takes to make their professional dreams come true, especially on those days when they think they cannot do it and they are thinking about giving up. When their faith wavers, my faith in them will kick in! I cannot wait to meet you at the Yorkville Chapter of WESOS so I can learn more about you.
On a personal note, my passion is helping dog owners provide a healthy, happy lifestyle for their forever dogs through my blog. I am also the author of the book Love, Laugh, Woof: A Guide to Being Your Dog’s Forever Owner. My most exciting professional moment was when Modern Dog Magazine recommended my book in their holiday issue! I live in the Montgomery/Yorkville area with my husband, three college aged kids, and my Labrador Retrievers, Jackson and Tinkerbell.
